Practice areas.

Most matters we take on sit in one of these areas. If yours does not, say so anyway and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right firm for it.

01 / Business & Commercial

Contracts that hold up when something goes wrong.

We draft and review the agreements a business runs on, and we do it with the disputes we have seen in mind. Terms are written to be used by your team, not only by lawyers.

This covers supply, services and distribution agreements, shareholder and partnership arrangements, business and share sales, including due diligence, terms of trade, credit terms and personal guarantees, and franchising and licensing.

02 / Building, Construction & Engineering

Payment, time and defects, on either side of the contract.

We act for head contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, builders, developers and owners. Standard form or bespoke, we know where the risk hides in construction and engineering contracts and how it plays out on site.

This covers head contracts, subcontracts and consultant agreements, contract administration, project delivery, variations, extensions of time and delay and defect claims.

03 / Disputes

Resolved commercially where possible, run properly where not.

Every dispute starts with the same two questions. What is it worth, and what will it cost to win. We answer both before you spend money, then run the strategy that fits.

This covers contract and payment disputes, debt recovery and demands and shareholder and director disagreements.

04 / Infrastructure & Facilities

Long term contracts that work the duration of an asset.

Operations, maintenance and asset service contracts live or die on their performance regimes. We advise on and negotiate them so obligations, pricing and exit are clear from the start.

This covers operations and maintenance agreements, facilities management and asset services contracts, KPIs, service levels and abatement regimes, access, interface and shared use agreements, and contract transition, renewal and termination.

05 / IP & Technology

Protect what you built, licence it on your terms.

For technology businesses and for the companies buying from them. We sort out who owns what, what happens to data, and what the customer is really entitled to.

This covers software, SaaS and reseller agreements, development, integration and support contracts, IP ownership, assignment and licensing, and privacy, data handling and confidentiality.

06 / Property & Leasing

Leases read closely, before you sign them.

We act for landlords and tenants on commercial and retail property.

This covers commercial and retail leases, agreements for lease, licences and subleases, assignments, options and renewals, rent reviews, outgoings and make good, and breach, termination and lease disputes.

07 / Fractional General Counsel

An in-house lawyer, for the days you need one.

Some businesses have the need for a casual or part time legal counsel. We fill that seat on a set retainer basis. You get someone who knows your business, contracts, your people and your risk appetite, without a full time salary on the books.

This covers legal advice, negotiations, board, strategy and management advice, managing external lawyers where specialists are needed, and sitting in on the meetings where the legal question actually gets decided.

08 / White Label Services

Overflow and specialist work, delivered under your name.

For law firms, accountants and consultancies whose clients bring them work outside their core practice. We do the drafting, review or advice, you present it to your client as your own, and the relationship stays yours.

This relieves capacity during peak periods anf conflict situations where a separate firm is needed on the file.

09 / Insurance, Torts & Negligence

When someone else's mistake has cost you.

We also act on insurance disputes and for people who have been hurt or left out of pocket through no fault of their own. A motor vehicle accident, an injury on someone else’s premises, or a loss caused by another party’s carelessness.

We look at every matter before taking it on and tell you plainly whether a claim is worth pursuing and what it is likely to involve. Where it is, we handle the insurer, the paperwork and the negotiation so you can concentrate on recovering.
